Holy sh!t a shootout win; there is a god!
JJ definately deserves to stay in the lineup, i'd also like to see Larsson get a few more starts. Maybe sit Merrill next game, he looked a little lazy at times.

Zidlicky's gamely penalties could have buried them this year.

He's really trying to make up for it with his giveaways though.
Everytime Salicky are on the ice you can almost feel like the other team is going to score.

I've torched JJ for his play in the past and I'll eat every one of those words now. He's playing some good hockey and really showing some effort. Kudos to him on taking advantage of the opportunity.

So, the Sal benching in the 3rd? I think it's pretty clear that Sal is the #6 d-man on this team. PDB can say it was because he needed offense, but I thought Sal played another rough game. He's just too slow and doesn't win physical battles anymore.

Good game by Larsson, too. Never seen him play so aggressive.

With the Devils moving guys around, I'm hoping that Elias stays on the wing and JJ can step up to be a 3rd line center. We may have to go back to those days where we knew the 3rd line was a checking line as I don't think we have that deep of scoring up front.

Elias has been absolutely awful to watch. I don't know what has happened to his game but as we had all hoped Elias would help bring back Havlat's game...now I'm hoping Elias can just find his own.

Severson had some rough parts of the game, but when he stopped that odd-man rush thanks to a HORRIBLE Clowe play...Clowe owes him dinner. This kid is awesome.

The Jagr-Zajac-Clowe experiment should never be tried again. There is no slower line in hockey. That was tough to watch.

Imagine where jj would be in his development right now had he not been completely wasted. We might of had a guy reading to start eating some top six minutes with his speed and skill. For this years draft. Wherever we end up picking in the first round I think our top priority should be a forward and I think that forward need to be the best skating player In the draft at that point. I have said before we sorely lack a player who is considered an elite skater like a hall duchene mackinnon ect. We have seen numerous times that speed kills and if we can land one dynamic skater that oozes talent and skill we will be set. Those guys seem to develope well to because they are faster then most the players in the game.

Another thing is we have played Florida and really that's it for complete basement dweller teams so I look at that as a plus. Some teams have faced the Sabres and or the canes twice to pad their stats but we having been playing for the most part teams expected to be competitive so good on us. With Todd saying the schedule only gets tougher for a bit it's nice to know we have gotten the points we have needed to and will be sitting nice when a stretch comes were we do get to play some lighter teams like the Sabres canes oilers ect.

Take it easy there. Josefson was scratched in the playoffs, and benched frequently, but let's remember he's also had an issue staying healthy. Maybe there were some bad breaks (no pun intended) which led to those injuries, but JJ was also pretty fragile. It looks like he's finally gotten a little bigger this year and maybe that will help, but don't talk like he's been a scratch the past four years. And let's hope this continues. I mean, he's got one goal which came on a blatant giveaway so it's not like he's dekeing guys left and right and scoring at an insane pace. It's nice to see, he's young, and we're hopeful, but let's also manage expectations.

listening to the post game show on my way home from the arena, they said salvador took a shot off his hand late in the 2nd period, thats why his minutes were way down in the 3rd. I know its horrible to say, but can we get lucky and its a serious injury, he needs to sit, and injury is the only way that is going to happen?

No he isn't but you have to wonder that if he was ever given decent line mates and playing regularly for the past 3 years he might look like a lot better player today. He can carry the puck, has speed, is creative with the puck and plays an alright defensive game. I would say last year he is scratched more then he was injured. These guys where handled wrong, you can't say they weren't. If he was going to be sitting out this much or wasn't strong enough for the NHL game he should of been playing full years in albany not just down here and there for a handle of games. What's the most this guy has played in what? 4 years ? I don't think it's a stretch to think from the flashes he has shown that if he was given a real chance with real line mates early and or played every night he was healthy either in the NHL or AHL he would be or could be a nice little player right now. He still might not turn out to be anything but my point was he has played better then he ever has ( In a small sample size ) It's just hard not to think he could of been more then a healthy scratch 90% of the time.

it's gona be nice to have Cam back. Lets not forget his point streak, his speed, his shot and hockey sense.

Cammalleri-Zajac-Jagr
Elias-Henrique-Havlat
Clowe-Josefson-Ryder
Zubrus-Ruutu-Brunner

Greene-Severson
Merrill-Zidlicky
Gelinas-Larsson

it makes too much sense.

I really like the idea of Elias-Henrique-Havlat. Henrique is probably our 2nd best forward behind Cam, has the vision, the sense, the speed, and a shot. Havlat and Elias are both very smart players who also see the ice very well. This could be a good combo.

If he was given regular minutes in 2012 do we make the SCF? We were deeper then and he didn't fit. I don't think the Devils have handled JJ's situation that poorly, not like Larsson's.

I agree with the elias assessment. I thought I was the only one who noticed since nobody's really mentioned it. He's shown to be ageless up until this year. And instead of a slow decline and taking one step back its appears his decline is steep and rapid. He was still patty just 7 months ago. Idk what happened to him over the summer either. Lots of turnovers from him and his slick passing skills seems to have disappeared.

He has played in 53 total games in the last 3 years... Having a first round pick watch that much hockey is not a recipe for good development. He didn't miss that many games all due to injuries he has been scratched for very long periods at a time. Also in 2012 he didn't have to be up with the big team to not play. He could of been put in the AHL from the get go like Reid Boucher. Henrique got to play with Kovy and Parise, who has JJ ever played with? It's really hard to meet the coaches expectations when they are produce yet you never get to play more then 3 games in a row and you get ten minutes with our fourth line. Can't really say I could name to many players who would produce or look even half like a nhl player under those conditions.

The one thing that has not changed is him missing glorious chances and open nets and looking at the replay or into the rafters....

How deboer couldn't put these lines together from day one really baffles me. Everybody's all happy cause we won last night and high on the impressive play from JJ and severson. Understandable. However, am I the only one who noticed how deboer is back to playing musical chairs with the lineup again? We were sloppy, flat and unorganized for 55 minutes last night. Probably because deboer is throwing random guys out there every other shift messing up the chemistry. Also, if JJ doesn't score on that shootout goal I can guarantee we'd all be on here wondering why the hell our most dangerous shoot out weapon boucher was not a participant. I'm happy we won, especially since it's a shoot out. But enough is enough with deboer. I cant take his non sense anymore

A chance to play hockey yes. You flop that many prospects and I start to look to the guys in charge of developing them and having these guys play so few games is not good. JJ was compared to backstrom and had 10 pts in his first year in the NHL he played 28 games thats not bad at all. Tedenby also had a decent start to his career until someone decided he didn't play the way we would like him to.

Actually i think hegleson would be recalled from albany and put into the lineup. larsson and gelinas will continue to play there on again off again system.
